Alfa Bank — B2B Cash Management Case Study
Alfa Bank (Альфа-Банк) case study by Anton Mironov, product
designer. Anton was responsible for logic and design in three
corporate business teams: Deposits, Counterparties, and Risk
Indicator — different products with overlapping functions where
consistency in decision-making across teams was critical.
Role
Product Designer, Research, Prototyping. Jul 2021 — Jun 2022.
Deposits
Deposits are the largest product of corporate business: deposits,
dual-currency deposits, savings account, tax savings account, and
individual deposit. The UI/UX was severely outdated, so the goal was
to migrate the entire product to a new design system while
addressing UI/UX debt.
-
Audited legacy pages, compiled a comprehensive backlog, and
prioritized it by business importance and impact.
-
Reworked intricate blocks (deposit conditions), added new entry
points to the help section, and moved key functions to a floating
panel for better accessibility.
-
Simplified the individual deposit application from 5 steps to 2:
coordinate details with the manager, then sign all documents in
the online bank.
-
Because deals are signed on Moscow time by the Central Bank while
users may be in any time zone, added hints and a timer so users do
not miss the signing window.
-
Result: the individual deposit process moved fully online,
increasing the number of transactions; users reported clearer
information comprehension.
Counterparties
A service that lets bank clients check the financial status of a
counterparty via an online report. Previously only a free report
with basic public data existed; a new paid report with unique data
from closed sources made the product revenue-generating.
-
Improved the search flow — the entry point to free reports, paid
report orders, and purchased report lists.
-
Restructured the free report after analyzing the old UX; users
responded positively.
-
Designed the paid PDF report despite heavy constraints of the
legacy OBIP platform (limited text formatting, minimal tables and
charts), turning chaotic raw data into a readable, structured
document.
Risk Indicator
A financial health indicator for the client's company, previously
available only in counterparty checks and deposits.
-
Integrated the indicator horizontally across the bank: main page,
user profile, payments — 4 products plus a main page widget.
-
Fixed navigation issues across entry points, increasing active
service connection requests and revenue.
